Canine meme coins Shiba Inu ($SHIB) and Floki ($FLOKI) are rallying in line with the rest of crypto’s meme coin sector, which grew 10% in the last 24 hours to post a collective market cap of $67.9 billion.
Both Shiba Inu and Floki rose 9% overnight and now retail for $0.00001864 and $0.0001445 respectively.
Most canine-themed coins appear to have tracked the wider sector, with OG meme coin Dogecoin ($DOGE) rising as much as 13% in 24 hours (and a sweltering 16.5% in the last seven days) to trade at $0.1658.
In fact, the only canine-themed cryptocurrency among the Big Five that didn’t grow by around 10% was Solana’s Bonk ($BONK). Bonk grew 4% to reach $0.00002172.
Floki and Bonk are also the only two blue chip doge coins to depreciate over the week. Bonk fell 7% while Floki fell 4%.
In general, the market is following Bitcoin ($BTC), which grew 3.4% overnight and now trades at $71,165.
Shiba Inu and Floki: Two Similar Stories
At a cursory glance, Shiba Inu and Floki look like two similar performing tokens.
They may have started life as low-utility digital chump change, but their developers have since added a raft of new features—Shiba’s have gone all-in on privacy, while Floki’s are testing training bot functionality—to keep them competitive.
Back in late September, Shiba Inu rallied to over $0.00002.
This was the first time $SHIB has been at that price since June 17 this year.
$SHIB has largely held its ground since and it’s now trading close to the mark as it aims to go higher.
Shiba Inu’s RSI is currently sitting above 70, indicating that it may be overbought, with some selling soon to come.
Meanwhile, Floki’s charts tell a more bullish story. Like Shiba, Floki rallied to a recent high in late September. However, in Floki’s chart we see a clear triple peak on or above the key resistance level $0.00016.
Support has been steadily rising in the meanwhile, which primes the token perfectly for a potential rally, where $0.0002 will be the next target.
