Meta Earth, a modular blockchain protocol with integrated decentralized identity (DID) features, reports that its network has grown to over 1 million ecosystem participants.
Now, it includes more than 670,000 KYC-verified users through its ME ID verification system.
The milestone comes as interest in modular blockchain infrastructure grows, with many developers and institutions exploring alternatives to traditional Layer 1 and Layer 2 setups. Meta Earth’s framework combines a layered architecture with built-in identity verification and economic incentives, aiming to support diverse use cases in decentralized finance and beyond.
Staking-Based Participation Model
Through the ME Network, each verified user is issued one staked MEC token, Meta Earth’s native digital asset, along with access to daily reward distributions. Additional features, such as referral incentives and a global ambassador initiative, have contributed to broader community participation.
The network also incorporates a form of Unconditional Basic Income (UBI), distributing token-based rewards to verified users. This model is designed to promote more inclusive access to blockchain-based economies, though long-term sustainability will depend on adoption and utility growth.
Platform Goals and Development Structure
Meta Earth was established by the Meta Earth Holding Group, which has diversified interests across blockchain, artificial intelligence, real estate, and digital asset investments. In 2023, the group formed the Meta Earth Association in Switzerland to help align with evolving regulatory frameworks and support broader institutional participation.
Founder Patrick Oerer, drawing on his background in finance and technology, positioned Meta Earth around themes of privacy, data control, and economic inclusion. The ME ID protocol uses cryptographic techniques, including homomorphic encryption, to allow users to manage identity-related data with optional disclosure. Users remain in control of their information and can choose how and with whom they share access.
Architecture and Technical Design
Meta Earth’s modular design separates execution, consensus, settlement, and data availability into independent layers. This structure is intended to support high throughput, enable interoperability, and improve scalability for developers.
The ME-SDK allows for deployment of application-specific rollups with built-in support for cross-chain communication. Sequencer functions, commonly centralized in rollup systems, are decentralized on ME Network via a staking mechanism. MEC token holders can participate in sequencer governance and transaction ordering.
The network incorporates zero-knowledge proofs and improved Optimistic Rollup challenge mechanisms, aiming to reduce dispute periods from the conventional 7 days to fewer than 3. These enhancements are intended to reduce latency and network overhead, although real-world results will depend on adoption rates and technical implementation.
Adoption Metrics and Community Participation
As of April 2025, Meta Earth reports:
1 million+ ecosystem participants
670,000+ verified users via ME ID
User activity in over 30 countries
Daily participation in staking and reward distribution
Growing involvement through an international ambassador initiative
The team emphasizes that identity verification is required for all participants, which it says helps reduce the risk of automated or fraudulent activity within the network. Community participation is also supported through tools such as ME Pass and staking interfaces that offer product-level engagement options.
Future Plans and Roadmap
According to its public roadmap, Meta Earth is preparing for several developments over the coming year, including:
The launch of ME Network v2.0
Expanded testing of its rollup framework
Further development of its DeFi infrastructure
The team also continues to promote its Global Ambassador Program, which aims to build community-level engagement across diverse regions through education and onboarding support.
Ecosystem Access and Onboarding
New users can register via ME ID and receive a staked MEC token as part of the onboarding process. Meta Earth’s staking system, community tools, and platform updates are shared through its website and social media channels.
